Leslee Ferguson, IACCPHP’s Supervisor of the Year Leslee Ferguson started at CHELP in 2000, she worked here until 2003 and left for a few years then came back in 2007. She supervises 37 home care aides and about 130 clients. Leslee is a wonderful supervisor who makes sure all of her clients needs are met. There are so many things that can be said about this Supervisor. She assists in training her Homecare Aides and they all know she is there to assist them. Her paper work is always done on time, she always makes sure her client’s semi-annual evaluations are current and her staff evaluations are up to date. She has no problem reporting Elder Abuse if she believes her client is being abused in any way. She has built a relationship with the case workers at the CCU and promptly notifies them of any changes. Leslee has done many things to help her clients. She is an advocate for their well being.

2011 IACCPHP Annual Membership Meeting
Corporate headquarters, Springfield, IL
August 25, 2011
Speakers at the event included Mary Killough, Illinois Department on Aging; Darby Anderson, Vice-President Addus Healthcare; David Vinkler with AARP; James M Parker with Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services; and Marsha Nelson with Shawnee Alliance for Seniors.
The topics were timely and the information that members took away was invaluable.
Ms. Killough spoke on the updates in the IDoA and in particular about the CARP program that is being initiated soon. Mr. Anderson directed his talk on the increasing direction of services that is becoming more apparent and in particular the use of IP and PA and the Cash and Counseling programs. Mr. Vinkler spoke to the upcoming training that the Alliance for Home Care will be conducting in Champaign and also what the Alliance is and how you can be part of it. Mr. Parker spoke on the Illinois Integrated Care program that is advancing in select areas in the Northern region of the state and the overall scope of this program as it relates to Home Care. Finally Ms. Nelson spoke on issues and answered questions with regard to the new Plan of Care.
All of this was followed by the annual business meeting where issues of the regional meetings, upcoming board strategic planning meeting, the IDoA grant for FY 11 and FY 12, as well as other pertinent issues relating to the association. Discussed were topics on our Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. Another issue discussed was around the question of why you belong to the association. Finally it was noted that the next membership meeting will be held December 7, 2011 in conjunction with the Governor’s Conference in Chicago.
It was a great opportunity for networking and education on what is happening in the world of Home Care and what areas we need to be most cognizant of and prepare for in the coming future.
